If you experience any of the symptoms of celiac disease, it is a good idea to see your doctor to be tested. This is especially true if you have a relative with the disease. The sooner you are diagnosed, the more likely you will be to prevent serious problems that can result from nutrient malabsorption. Also, if your child shows symptoms such as irritability, pale color, delayed growth, and a potbelly you should ask your doctor about having them checked for celiac disease.
