While it may be hard to know if you have chlamydia, when it is diagnosed chlamydia is easy to treat and cure. The antibiotics azithromycin (Zithromax) given in one dose or doxycycline twice daily for ten days are commonly prescribed treatments for chlamydia. While undergoing treatment for chlamydia, you should refrain from sex to avoid infecting others.

If you are diagnosed with chlamydia, it is important to let all your recent sex partners know so they can be tested and treated. Women who have been treated for chlamydia should be retested within a year (sooner if they are at high risk) to make sure they have not been re-infected.
