Anyone who is sexually active has some risk of contracting chlamydia. Teenage girls and young women are at greater risk of chlamydia infection because the cervix is not fully mature and is more susceptible to infection. Other factors that increase your risk of chlamydia include:
- Having unprotected sex.
- Having sex with multiple partners.
- Having sexual partners that have had a lot of sexual partners themselves.
- Having had another sexually transmitted disease.
- Becoming sexually active at a young age.
