Ringworm causes one or more red raised patches that often appear as a sharply-defined ring with a pale center. The patches may be itchy or scaly and in some cases may blister and ooze. When the scalp is affected, it may cause bald patches at the infection site. If the nails are affected, they can become thick and discolored.

Athlete’s foot infection usually occurs between the toes and causes scaling, flaking, and itching of the affected skin. The skin may also blister and crack which can cause pain and inflammation.

Jock itch causes an itchy, red rash similar to that found in ringworm infections on other body parts. It occurs in the skin of the inner thighs, buttocks, genitals, and anus.
