You should see the doctor if you have a rash or skin condition that does not improve with two weeks of self care. However, you should contact a doctor right away if you have any signs of a bacterial infection which include swelling, inflammation, sudden worsening in redness of the patches, discharge, and fever. You should also see a doctor if the ringworm infects your scalp or beard.
