Generally, you do not need to see the doctor unless you develop diarrhea that does not go away within several days, if it is accompanied by blood in your stool, if you experience severe abdominal cramping or vomiting, or if you become severely dehydrated. However, if you have a compromised immune system, you may want to see the doctor right away, before the infection spreads to other parts of the body.
