The Healia Health Advisory Board is comprised of national leaders in health and medicine.


Melina Jampolis, MD, is a board certified internist and physician nutrition specialist (one of only 200 in the country). She specializes exclusively in nutrition for weight loss and disease prevention and treatment. A graduate of Tufts University as well as Tufts School of Medicine, she completed her residency in internal medicine at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, a Stanford University teaching hospital. In 2005, Dr. Melina hosted a 10 episode diet program on the Discovery Network's FIT TV titled "Fit TV's Diet Doctor." She is a member of the advisory board and a regular contributor to Vivmag, the first digital only, interactive women's lifestyle magazine. She is also a bi-monthly contributor to the San Francisco Chronicle Sunday Magazine newspaper. Dr. Melina lectures throughout the country on nutrition for weight loss and optimal health. She has been interviewed by the New York Post, USA Weekend, First for Women, Women's World, Life & Style Weekly, Alternative Medicine Magazine, Women's Health, San Francisco Magazine, Quick and Simple Magazine, Baby Talk and more on nutrition and weight loss related topics. She has appeared on Live with Regis and Kelly, ABC News Now and View From the Bay as a repeat guest as well as numerous national television news stations discussing topics such as healthy holiday eating, healthy snacking, nutrition for heart disease and nutrition in the news. Her first book, The No-Time-to-Lose-Diet, was released in January 2007 and will be re-released as a trade paperback in May 2008. In addition, she launched her own line of protein bars, the Dr. Melina Protein bar, which match her exact nutrition specifications in the fall of 2007. Her mission is to present the most up-to-date nutrition and fitness research in an easy to understand, user-friendly way that even the busiest person can adopt to achieve a healthy lifestyle permanently. She is currently in private practice with an office in San Francisco.

Jennifer Shu, MD, is a pediatrician, author and mother in Atlanta. Her passion is educating parents on all topics relating to children. Dr. Shu is editor-in-chief of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Baby & Child Health and co-author of the award-winning book Heading Home with Your Newborn and Food Fights, both published by the AAP. An enthusiastic and experienced writer and public speaker, Dr. Shu is an editorial advisor for parenting magazines, consultant for health-related web sites, script reviewer for a health video production company, and a frequent guest expert on CNN, Headline News, MSNBC and Discovery Health, as well as in US News & World Report, USA Today, and numerous magazines, newspapers and medical publications. Dr. Shu has been a leader within the medical profession as a past national chairperson of the young physicians sections for both the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Shu received her bachelor’s degree at the University of Virginia and attended the Medical College of Virginia. She completed her pediatric training and chief residency at the University of California in San Francisco.
